Worldwide Sustainability Champions Honored at the  5th Global Corporate Sustainability Forum in Taipei

 

Every year since 2018, the Alliance for Sustainable Development Goals invites corporations, government agencies, universities, and research institutions to jointly host the "Global Corporate Sustainability Forum (GCSF)" with an aim to diffuse the latest trends for sustainable development to all stakeholders and kindle opportunities and partnerships for business and innovation.

 

The 5th GCSF, titled ‘Road to Net Zero’, was hosted in the Grand Hotel Taipei, and amassed over 4000 participants during its record-breaking 3-day period. The forum was unveiled by an online seminar adorned with worldwide speakers and then launched by an opening ceremony in the Grand Ballroom on November 16th. Its splendor and glamour were witnessed by over 200 prominent guests, including 34 chairman, 41 CEOs, 10 university presidents and foreign representatives.

It was also on the same stage, winners of the 2022 Global Corporate Sustainability Awards (GCSA) received their trophies from Prof. Huang Jong-tsun, President of the Examination Yuan in Taiwan. Since its establishment, GCSA has maintained steadfast growth both in quality and quantity across all three award categories: sustainability reporting award, best practice award, and outstanding professional award.

 

In addition to leading corporations in Taiwan, winners of GCSA 2022 further encompass companies and organizations from France, Indonesia, Switzerland, Thailand, and USA. HPE and Synopsis, both US IT companies, respectively earned gold and silver class awards for their sustainability reports. SGS, a world leader in testing and certification from Switzerland, also received silver class award. And among the bronze class winners, there were additional international corporations like Société Générale, a French bank, and Asia Pulp & Paper from Indonesia, both garnered the recognition of the panel judges.

 

Indonisian contestants were also the recipients for best practice award, PT Pertamina Hulu Energi presented a winning project that turned waste to energy, whereas PT Telkom Indonesia won the prize with its practices in promoting education quality via technology. Furthermore, the social aspect of sustainable development was properly covered in GCSA 2022; two enterprises from Thailand showcased their contribution to the society. Metropolitan Electricity Authority went great length to support the local community while PTT Exploration and Production benefitted individual labor with training and upskilling.

GCSA embraces the Sustainable Development Goals, which, as defined by the UN, is the blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future; and it is therefore the signpost for all of us on the Road to Net Zero.
